Just dive in and get experience.

You can take your own pictures to get more familiar of how you look on camera.  It’s possible to gain practical experience working with a photographer.

Make connections with photographers who need volunteers (photographers who are just starting out in the industry).  Approach photographers who are looking to build up a portfolio of work. Alternatively you could try to find someone who needs to market a product, service or cause.  Simply ask if they would like any models for their marketing.

Future Progression Or Developments:

I believe the progression would be the same role.  The coverage of work would become more prestigious.  Examples being, greater global reach, work with leading publications/clients/agencies, regular schedule of work.

Yourself (consider your appearance, wardrobe, makeup).

A Typical Day’s Duties:

Arrive at the photo shoot location. Get changed into the clothes provided by the photographer. Take instructions from the photographer as to the aim of the shoot (overall & every shot). Maintain make up and professional appearance throughout the shoot.

Working in a dusty abandoned building in a remote village!

The amount of times a shot needed to be re-taken. Many factors effecting the quality of a shot i.e lighting, glare, dust, angle needing to be adjusted effecting the shoot.
