Advice and Thoughts

It takes lots of time to do this. It’s not a job you can do and just sit back and see the money rolling in. You can be busy all day and not see the money rolling in, so it isn’t about the money. You HAVE to enjoy dogs, with all their foibles, temperaments, and characters, or it will be difficult.

Day 2 Day

What Are The ‘tools of the trade’ Used Daily:

A shovel, for the daily ‘presents’ left in the garden. Wellies, for the daily walks in mud, snow, rivers, and dust. Toys. lots of them. Indestructible if possible, as you will go through them very quickly!

A Typical Day’s Duties:

Up early, normally when the sun comes up as the dogs all seem to wake then. Let them all out for a run around whilst you get their morning breakfasts ready. This can be a bit chaotic as dogs all eat differently, at different rates, and some are pirates who will nab others food! Whilst they are munching it’s ‘presents-patrol’ to clear up the dogs ‘business’. After everyone has eaten, drank, and had a run around, it’s walk time. This can be several trips depending on the number of dogs, and how they all get on. This can take several hours! Once done, they all have a rest in the garden, or further play. More ‘ ‘presents -patrol’. It should be around afternoon at this point, and you get a sit down for a cup of tea and a bit of food. Rest of the day is doing chores. Brushing out the kennels daily, cleaning any bedding, topping up water bowls, brushing dogs, and so on. More play, more ‘ ‘presents-patrol’, evening feed, then everyone seems to lounge as the sun goes down.

Insight
Additional Info You Wish To Share:

For years I worked at sea. I had a good wage, travelled, and saw places on the planet I wouldn’t otherwise have seen. However, what I missed was being home for ‘things’. Birthdays, christmas, kids, etc. I make nowhere near the money I did then, but I am happier, so whatever career you do choose, make sure it makes you happy. Money only matters if you make it matter more than anything else.
