The Best Thing About The Work You Do:
Being the point of contact for The Little Free Pantry Project, I communicate with people daily who want to engage the work of the pantry for no other reason than that they care for others and want to make a small difference in their communities; daily, I am witness to that community building and am steeping in good will and gratitude.
Your Least Favorite Thing About The Work You Do:
I am also in contact with lots of people living through food insecurity. Occasionally, an individual will contact me directly asking for help. When I explain I help through the work of the pantry, I know that explanation is little consolation to those who need diapers, for example, and do not find them in the pantry. It dissatisfies me, and being a witness to individual need is difficult.
Any Duties You Hadn’t Anticipated Prior To Undertaking The Work:
Marketing the Little Free Pantry requires tech savvy. I had no prior web building experience and am now researching both app and online software platform development. The opportunity to learn these skills is another pantry perk!
